Camp 2023 Teaser

General Information

WHEN IS CAMP?

The working party leaves at 6am on Saturday 22nd July 2023.  Everyone else leaves at 1pm on Saturday 22nd July.  You will travel by minibus from the Church Centre.  We return home late afternoon/early evening on Saturday 29th July 2022.

WHERE IS CAMP?

We stay at the Colandene Centre, Devon, EX22 7RN.  The Colandene Centre is a field and converted barn on an old dairy farm. It’s near lots of beaches and not too far from Bude.  We provide transport and canvas tents.

WHAT IS CAMP?

Camp is the highlight of our calendar – our annual week long camping trip which consists of fun, games and good times with new and old friends, but also time for discussion groups, prayer, worship and talks.

A typical day starts with breakfast, followed by “quiet time” where we discuss topics about our faith in small groups.  After some free time we have lunch before our afternoon activity.  This could be going to the beach, visiting local towns, team games etc.  Then we have our evening meal followed by the “epilogue”, which is similar to the Friday night epilogues.

We set up the site with our main marquee for our worship meetings, and our cooking tent – where you will be put into groups to take it in turns to prepare the dinner.

PRACTICAL STUFF

Make sure your parents send back your form and deposit ASAP!  The cost of the weekend is £235 and that includes all your transport (via minibus), accommodation, food, trips and activities during the week.

This year, Rachel’s tuck shop will be open, and we will be visiting Bude, so you may want to bring some spending money.

All of the important details including what to pack and where to meet will be sent out in an Important Information letter – please make sure parents and YFers have read this and let us know if you don’t have one.

Our risk assessment is available here. [2022 version – to be reviewed]

Please click here to find out about the Church’s safeguarding policy.

If money is a problem that might stop you coming to Camp, please talk to a YF leader, the church office or a member of the clergy in confidence – we may be able to help.

FUNDRAISING

Camp incurs lots of costs associated with site fees, transport, equipment, food and lots more.  To help keep costs to families down, we will be holding a coffee morning fundraiser on 1st July.

Camp 2021

We had to plan Camp 2021 around COVID restrictions, so we had a local, daytime-only Camp.  However, it was as amazing as any other Camp – you can see some videos below.
